No Distraction

She's seen sin. Her life, forced by God to be eternal, saw pain, destruction. Endless sin. She knew she had no choice but to help and guide them to the word of God, but how long can she live knowing the wrongs in the world? It was a Satre hell, she thought, living with people you hate eternally. She prayed for forgiveness for hating them, she prayed the light would see she was only a soul amidst a chaotic sinned society. Alas, her hell felt endless - she could see fire burning the Earth slowly.

Until the light listened.

They met at a religious interfaith conference. They had a brief discussion, and although the conference was uneventful, he was not. He understood her plea, her mission - to guide them into the unsinful life. He was of different faith, but he understood. She couldn't convert him, but she knew that everything he stood for was all she had fought for her eternally long life.

They met a couple of times. They had coffee, he visited the Church. One night, in the dark quiet sky where only He was watching, she told him the truth. I'm the undead. He smiled and told her he knew. He told here gently he was married and divorce would be unacceptable in orthodox religion. I understand, she said, but we must still continue our mission. Together.  He nodded and said, It will be messy, but that's why people suffer. Because that is what God demands. She smiled for the first time in a century.

It was difficult at first. A lot of blood,  and it smelled. It rotted. They found new and creative ways of hiding the bodies, and their deaths were always symbolic of their sins. Occasionally, disagreement arose between the two concerning which passage of the Bible best fit their sin or which death would God accept as merciful. But, ultimately,  they managed.

She realised she loved him. Everything her long life suffered for was for these moments - of mutual understanding, of delivering His word onto this filthy world. He understood humanity and its psychosis. Everything was him. She decided that the only way to serve God was through this man, and the only way to do so was to kill his wife.

2017

Tres bien, time has passed. It feels good to write freely without the chains of academia.
I hope to make the most of it - regrets or no, this is where I am.

Her body is pale white. She's wearing a faded creme/white dress that flows across her body. Her hair is dark. She's wearing a flower crown, for some reason, but the petals have lost their colours. He body lays down on top of the elevator level. She moves up, the escalator arrives at my level. I run. I run with panic and fear.

A nun who is immortal
tries not to crack and kill someone because of their sins
eventually she does, and she takes the victims faces so she can hide her identity
she falls in love with a rabbi who is married
hes a psychopath and she eventually kills him and falls in love with his wife
she lives (no exit - this is her eternal hell) although she tries to kill herself
what constitutes sin changes, and so do her victims; each victim represents a sin of the age
